Sandstone is a sedimentary rock composed of sand-sized minerals or rock grains. Most sandstone consists of quartz and/or feldspar as a result of these are the commonest minerals within the Earth’s crust. The feel of sandstone is dependent upon the dimensions, form, sorting, and composition of its grains. Clean sandstone has grains which might be well-rounded and sorted, and it has a uniform texture. Clean sandstone may be made by tumbling sandstone rocks in a rock tumbler. A rock tumbler is a machine that rotates rocks in a barrel stuffed with water and abrasive grit. The tumbling motion of the machine rounds off the perimeters of the rocks and polishes their surfaces. The size of time that the rocks are tumbled will decide the smoothness of the completed product.
