Buffalo nickels are a collection of five-cent cash struck by the US Mint from 1913 to 1938. Designed by James Earle Fraser, they characteristic a Native American profile on the obverse and an American bison on the reverse. Buffalo nickels are widespread with collectors, and a few dates and varieties may be fairly useful.
Probably the most useful Buffalo nickels are usually people who had been struck within the early years of the collection, earlier than the dies had worn down. These cash usually have sharp particulars and a powerful strike. A number of the most respected dates embody the 1913 Kind 1, the 1913-S Kind 2, and the 1916-D.
